Common questions

Why does the app say “Approximate” or show an accuracy of several kilometres?

Precise Location is turned off for CoyoCam, so iOS blurs every position on purpose. Tap the status pill in the camera or compass, or open Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → CoyoCam and turn on Precise Location.

Why is there no altitude or speed?

The phone only reports them with a satellite fix. Indoors, or with approximate location, they are left empty rather than shown as zero.

Is the stamp burned into my photograph?

No. CoyoCam keeps the original exactly as the camera took it and draws the stamp on a copy. You can turn the stamp off for any photograph, or change its fields, and it is redrawn.

What is in a KMZ export?

Three layers for Google Earth: a point for each photograph with its readings, a cone showing which way the camera faced and how wide it saw, and the photograph itself placed where it was taken.

Do exported pictures keep their GPS?

Yes. The stamped copies in a ZIP or KMZ carry the position, time and camera from the original. The CSV names each picture, so a row and its file always match.

What does the coordinate lock do?

It freezes the current position, so every photograph of one object gets the same point. The export marks those photographs as locked, so nobody mistakes them for separate measurements.

Can I change the language?

Yes: Settings → Language. CoyoCam can follow the iPhone’s language or use its own.

Where are my photographs stored?

On your iPhone, inside CoyoCam. By default a stamped copy also goes to the Photos library; Settings → Capture changes that and can save the original too. Deleting the app deletes what is inside it, so export or save what you need first.
